Honey-Orange Turkey Burgers

I got this recipe from www.sarcasticcooking.com . Just so no one thinks I made it up 🙂 I did make a slight change to it though. Here goes!

Honey-Orange Turkey Burgers

To make 4 burgers YOU WILL NEED:

1lb lean ground turkey

4 whole wheat buns

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup fresh squeezed OJ. (I bet you can make it with already made OJ, but I’ve squeezed it fresh every time, so I don’t know haha.)

1tbs orange zest. (see, might as well squeeze your own oranges since you need the zest anyway!)

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

1-4 avocados, depending on how much you like. I seriously put like a whole avocado on mine, but to each his own!

blue cheese crumbles. zomg, so good.

your choice of greens. (lettuce, spinach, whatever. I use spring mix!)

GET TO IT:

Use your hands to mix the together the turkey, OJ, zest, honey, salt and pepper.

Caution, it’s SUPER sticky icky.

You’ll want to heat a smidgen of olive oil in a pan, and then shape 4 patties out of the meat.

Place the patties in the pan, and cook for 6 minutes on each side.

It’s going to look like they’re burnt, but they’re not. It’s just the carmelization of the honey and the OJ!

While they’re cooking, smash up the avocado and spread on the bottom half of each bun.

I’ve found that it’s best to place the blue cheese crumbles on top of the avocado where they will end up being UNDER the burger, because if they’re on TOP of the burger- they have a tendency to fall off. And homegirl isn’t trying to waste any blue cheese.

Place the patties upon your deliciously decorated buns (the whole wheat ones guys, sheesh!) top with greens and the top bun.

Nosh your happy little face off. SO GOOD.
